Our Scottish Thistle spoon rest with its vibrant colours will make a wonderful addition to any kitchen. It was designed in the style of 9th Century ancient Celtic manuscripts which would have been painted by monks onto vellum or calf skin. Legend has it that the thistle was adopted as a symbol of Scotland when an approaching Viking, who had stepped on a thistle, cried out in agony. This alerted the sleeping Scottish warriors who duly defeated the invaders.
On the back of the display card you will find a recipe for the traditional Scottish soup, Cock-a-Leekie.
